Boyce starred in “Jessie,” a television show about a girl from a small town, played by Debby Ryan, who works as a nanny for a wealthy family after moving to New York City. Boyce was one of the children he looked after.
“From an early age, Cameron Boyce dreamed of sharing his extraordinary artistic talent with the world,” said the channel’s spokesman.
“He was an incredibly talented artist, a very careful and thoughtful person and, above all, a loving, devoted son, brother, grandson and friend. We offer our heartfelt condolences to his family, co-stars and colleagues and join his many millions of fans who mourn his untimely death. It will be very strange. “
A veteran actor at 19
Boyce was born and raised in Los Angeles, and was nicknamed an old soul by those who knew him, according to the Disney Channel biography about him.
“His love for acting began in a dance studio, and then went on to do commercials, and not long after television and movies,” says the channel.
Boyce also starred in “Mirrors,” “Eagle Eye” opposite Shia LaBeouf and “Grown Ups” with Adam Sandler. In “Descendants,” he played Cruella De Vil’s teenage son, Carlos.
When he was 19, Boyce was already “a veteran of the show business,” says Disney.
Celebrities and fans respond
Both fans and celebrities have expressed disbelief after his death. Actor Mason Cook said the news was “hard to digest.”
“He was a great guy,” Cook said on Twitter. “Truly nice and he definitely left too soon.”
