Apple gets into a trade dispute with Mac Pro

Apple’s new Mac Pro comes with the planned transfer of production to China in the mills of the trade conflict between Washington and Beijing. US President Donald Trump said the group would not receive any benefits or exemptions from Chinese customs punitive duties on the device. “Build it in the US, no tolls,” Trump wrote on Twitter. The current duties can add 25 percent to the price of components or equipment.

Apple had introduced the first new model of Mac Pro for six years in early June at its WWDC developer conference. It also became known that the new generation should be built in China, rather than in Texas as its predecessor. According to media reports, Apple had to deal with various problems in the production, among other things, because the US infrastructure for electronics production is worse than in China.

Customs exemption requested

Apple requested the financial service Bloomberg, according to an exemption from duties on the new Mac Pro. Although the device name was not mentioned in the published application, the technical data fit the new generation of the device. The computer is intended primarily for users with extremely high demands such as professional video editing. This is accompanied by a high price of at least 5999 dollars. It is still unclear whether punitive tariffs could cause Apple to raise the price.
