Bruce Arena’s Jürgen Klinsmann’s successor as coach of the United States. This was announced by the American Association of US Soccer on Tuesday.
The honorary captain of the German national had been released after five years on Monday.
Klinsmann was since 2011 in office and led his team, among other first knockout round of the World Cup 2014. A year earlier he had won with the US before the home crowd the Gold Cup, last year the team failed in the continental championship in the semifinals to Jamaica.
In the Copa America in the summer in their own country, the United States dropped out in the semifinals against runners-up Argentina.
Following the announcement of his successor Klinsmann announced on Facebook to speak and thanked for the five and a half years. “It was an unforgettable experience and an honor,” Klinsmann wrote.
