Oral-B works on toothbrush with artificial intelligence
If you want to have healthy teeth, dentists should brush their teeth for at least two minutes. But many people do not even brush for a minute, says an employee of Oral-B at the stand of the group at the Mobile World Congress 2019 in Barcelona. That’s why the company has developed a smart toothbrush: the “Genius X”. The device is an electric toothbrush that users can connect via Bluetooth wireless with the smartphone. With an app, they can follow their progress during the cleaning: “It’s like a fitness tracker for brushing your teeth,” says the employee.
For example, the app shows a model of the dentition: The longer someone brushes a particular spot in the mouth, the whiter the area turns. So users know when to clean the next area. A timer shows the cleaning time. According to Oral B, the timer should motivate people to brush their teeth for a long time. If you press too hard on the teeth, you also get a tactile signal.
Based on this data, the app shows an evaluation and cleaning tips at the end. According to Oral-B, the toothbrush is equipped with artificial intelligence. Their algorithm is to use data on cleaning styles of thousands of test persons. “So you can recognize your own mistakes and can change the brushing style,” says the Oral-B employee.
The Genius X also offers several modes, such as a tongue-brushing feature. Users can also earn awards, such as “cleaning teeth 365 days in a row”. A price called Oral B not. The device should be a bit more expensive than the Oral B Genius. The device is available from 129 euros.
VW makes the trunk to the packing station
VW presents the feature “We Deliver” at the Mobile World Congress. This function will allow VW drivers to have packages delivered to their luggage in the future. The deliverer receives the GPS location of the car and a one-time code via token, with which he can open the trunk. Fear for their car users do not need to have, says a VW employee: “The deliverer receives only access to the trunk, the rest of the car remains closed for him.”
According to the VW employee, such a feature has several advantages: customers can have their package delivered anywhere and no longer need to be home. Returns are also possible. For this, the user puts the package in the trunk. “The barcode has to point upwards,” says the VW employee. In this way, the deliverer knows which packages he may take from the trunk and which not. In the current test run, for example, it has been shown that deliverers ignored packages whose barcode was not visible.
On the subject of privacy, VW said that the Group only collects important data for the service. The parcel station function should be part of the standard equipment in the upcoming VW Passat. Older models should be retrofitted with appropriate hardware.
Robot: Cuddling with Liku, learning English with Kebbi
The Mobile World Congress in Barcelona is not just about smartphones until 28 February, but also about smart electronics and robots. The Korean company Torooc will showcase the robot Liku at the fair. He should appear as human as possible and give his roommates the feeling that they are liked. For the soulful togetherness, Liku’s entire head is sensitive to touch. So caressing is desired.

XR-1 prefers to pour drinks
