US prepare second North Korea summit

North Korean ruler Kim asked for a second meeting with Donald Trump in a letter, the White House said. Coordination of the summit is already underway.

The US and North Korea are preparing a second summit meeting between presidents, according to the White House Donald Trump and ruler Kim Jong Un. Trump received a letter in which Kim asked for a second encounter, said US Presidential spokeswoman Sarah Sanders. Trump is open to it. The coordination of this summit is already underway.

Kim and Trump met in Singapore for the first time on June 12 for a historic summit . The agreed in principle nuclear disarmament in North Korea, however, according to experts has not yet occurred.

Over the summer, the US government became increasingly dissatisfied with North Korea . At the end of August, Trump canceled a planned trip by his foreign minister, Mike Pompeo, to Pyongyang. He justified this by saying that there was “no sufficient progress in the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula”.

Sanders sees “goodwill sign”

Since last week Trump spreads but again optimism. In the Twitter short message service, the US president wrote that Kim has “unwavering faith” in him. “Thanks to the chairman, we get it together,” he wrote.

Sanders also assessed the military parade on Sunday as a positive signal for the 70th anniversary of North Korea . She pointed out that the North Korean leadership did not showcase their nuclear arsenal. That had been the case with earlier parades. “We regard this as a sign of goodwill,” said the Trump spokeswoman.
