The Video Game Highlights 2019: That’s All!

The year 2019 brings gamers back many potential cracker. And already in January it starts very strong! Here is an overview.

What was a great year in 2018: For months, players were busy with AAA blockbusters and indie gems like “God of War”, “Red Dead Redemption 2”, “Celeste” or “Into the Breach”. But again in 2019 many promising titles are ready. Here is an overview of some of the interesting video games in January and many of the potential top titles of the coming months.

January 2019

Already the first weeks of the year have some absolute big hitters ready – especially ” Resident Evil 2″ (PC, PS4 , Xbox One ), which will be released on January 25th. The reinterpretation of the horror classic first published in 1998 promises to be an absolute scary feast thanks to the dense atmosphere and stunning graphics. The game was not only pimped, but also offers new puzzles and surprises.

The long-established action role-playing series “Kingdom Hearts”, the first title first released in 2002, also gets a new part with “Kingdom Hearts III” ( PS4 , Xbox One ) on January 29th. The special feature of the family-friendly adventure: Again, you will meet again numerous figures and worlds from the films of Disney and Pixar . For example, hero Sora gets support from his friends Goofy and Donald Duck on his trip .

Breathless action gets players with “Ace Combat 7: Skies Unknown”, which will be released on January 18th for PS4 and Xbox One – and on February 1st for PC. In the cockpits of all kinds of fighter planes make flying ground the sky uncertain. But not only dynamic weather conditions and an exciting history tie to the joystick. PlayStation players can experience exclusive missions thanks to PSVR in virtual reality.

From January 25, PC players in “Tropico 6” reign again their own small banana republic. Whether one accepts the role of a cosmopolitan politician of international caliber, or rather exploits his subjects as a nasty dictator, is entirely up to the player. In multiplayer mode, there are up to four players at the same time. A console version for PS4 and Xbox One should follow in summer.

Even the famous for his crazy humor Goichi Suda (Suda51) appears very soon again in appearance. For Nintendo Switch , “Travis Strikes Again: No More Heroes” on January 18th, sees a new action adventure in the popular “No More Heroes” series. How crazy? At the center of the plot, for example, is a fabled game console called “Death Drive Mk II”.

February to April 2019

Shortly afterwards, big names continue: Ubisoft releases “Far Cry New Dawn” for PC, PS4 and Xbox One on February 15th . Seventeen years after an atomic catastrophe, players exploring alone or with a friend in the sequel to “Far Cry 5” an unusually colorful post-apocalypse, in which, however, everything revolves around survival.

Starting on February 22, “Anthem” (PC, PS4 , Xbox One ) will entice players in a mix of role-playing and action into a futuristic co-op adventure in which up to four players act as a team. Gamer slip into so-called Javelin combat suits and take different roles in a group to face all the dangers of the wild game world.

Also in “Metro Exodus” (PC, PS4 , Xbox One ), players can expect a post-apocalyptic adventure from February 15th. In 2036, people survive in the eponymous metro tunnels of destroyed Moscow. Main character Artjom sets out with colleagues to seek a new and safe environment in the East.

On March 8, “Devil May Cry 5” will be released for PC, PS4 and Xbox One . The latest installment of the legendary series throws players back into the midst of the never-ending battle against evil demons. Three demon hunters set out to stop the devilish activity. One thing is clearly in the foreground again: pure action!

In “The Division 2”, gamer takes on the role of activated sleeper agent to Washington DC, where up to four players seven months after the outbreak of a deadly virus in destroyed New York, trying to bring order. In a mix of shooter and online RPG, from 15 March, gamers will be ridding the city of the clutches of enemy factions that cause havoc on the ravaged streets.

On March 22, From Software, the creators of rousing-atmospheric hits such as the “Dark Souls” series and “Bloodborne,” release their new game “Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice” for PC, PS4 and Xbox One . In 16th-century Japan, a fallen warrior thinks of bloody revenge, because he wants to restore his honor, which was previously taken from him.

Against whole hordes of dangerous zombies, so-called Freaker, gamers in “Days Gone” ( PS4 ) defend themselves from April 26th. On his motorcycle, main character Deacon St. John explores the Pacific Northwest – always on the lookout for supplies and, above all, a reason to continue living in this hostile world.

Rest of the year

Of course, that’s not all. Here are some more, already announced titles, which could cause a stir in 2019. By the end of August, “Shenmue III” (PC, PS4 ) is expected to release a sequel to the story-based fighting game 18 years after the second installment. The popularity of the game is demonstrated by a so-called “Slacker Backer Campaign” on the crowdfunding platform Kickstarter, which brought together over 6.2 million euros.

The pirate adventure “Skull & Bones”, which is also expected to be released in 2019 for PC, PS4 and Xbox One , has not yet a fixed release date . On the stormy oceans, players not only face bombastic naval battles, but are also always on the lookout for new treasures.

Since 2006, the “Gears of War” series is the epitome of brutal-heavy action-Ballereien. With “Gears 5” is 2019 for PC and Xbox One appear a new part. Too much is not yet known, but once again the world is about to collapse – and it is the player’s job to stand in the way of the Monsters – the Locust – who are responsible.

“Discover an unknown world.” This is the motto of “Control” (PC, PS4 , Xbox One ), a new and for 2019 announced adventure of Remedy Entertainment, which are known among others for “Alan Wake” and “Quantum Break”. As the new director of an elite organization, Jesse Faden seeks to protect humanity from unknown forces.

The mother of all first-person shooters will also get a new part in 2019. “Doom Eternal” is to appear for PC, PS4 , Xbox One and Nintendo Switch and is the fifth main part of the series, which in 1993 has established the genre quasi. As with its predecessors, brutality and speed are the main factors determining the gameplay and the atmosphere.
