The ” Athletes of the Year 2018″ have been announced: Angelique Kerber , Patrick Lange and the national ice hockey team have been honored.
Wimbledon winner Angelique Kerber (30) has been voted “Athlete of the Year”. For the second time since 2016, the tennis player was delighted to receive the award. At the awards gala in Baden-Baden was Kerber the award from tennis legend Boris Becker presented (51). Track cyclist Kristina Vogel(28), paraplegic since an accident, came in second in the election. Kerberhonored her with the words: “You are a role model and inspiration for us all, stay the way you are!”
Ironman winner Patrick Lange (32) was voted ” Sportsman of the Year ” . He was the first triathlete in Hawaii to beat the “magic” eight hours. Nordic Combined Eric Frenzel (30) took second place. As “Team of the Year 2018” was awarded the men’s national hockey team, which had made it to the Olympic final of Pyeongchang and won the silver medal.
